Welcome to G-Chrome: Winona PVD Coatings new state-of-the-art wheel coating facility is now running production wheels with its G-Chrome process. This new facility was built to provide the original equipment manufacturer and aftermarket wheel industry with a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional chrome plating. Our “green” chroming process produces no hazardous waste while providing a durable, lasting bright finish. Our G-Chrome finish adds significantly less weight to the wheel and costs less than traditional chrome plating. Winona PVD Coatings can coat aluminum alloy wheels with its G-Chrome finish that range in size from 15 to 24 inches. G-Chrome can be used with almost any wheel geometry and does not require tooling or setup charges. Winona PVD Coatings, LLC, with its G-Chrome finish is the newest addition to the Winona family. Sister company, Winona Powder Coating, Inc., operates powder coating facilities in Mentone and Elkhart, IN, and has over 25 years of powder coating experience as a high volume job-shop powder coater. Jamie Visker, CEO of Winona PVD Coatings and Winona Powder Coating stated, “We are committed to providing coating services that offer environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional solvent based liquid coatings and electroplating.” The new facility will have ample space for Winona to build additional coating lines to more than double its initial production capacity.

Our G-Chrome Chroming Process: G-Chrome is environmentally friendly, using no hazardous materials and producing no hazardous waste. It combines powder coating and vacuum metallization together, producing a true classic chrome finish with a deep rich appearance equal to traditional triple plate or show quality chrome. The process creates a very durable finish that enables it to meet auto manufacturers’ warranties. Our G-Chrome process is comparable to the process used for a painted wheel, with an additional powder leveling coat and decorative metal layer replacing the liquid paint layer prior to the powder clear top coat.
